Making The Transition to IBM i2 Enterprise Insight Analysis (EIA) Platform
Implementing a new technology platform and transitioning away from an older one can be daunting for any organization. In this demonstration, the Praescient team shows how EIA can replace the functionality and workflows of other industry standard analysis platforms. EIA’s updated interface and expanded capabilities are robust enough to meet a variety of intelligence analysis objectives, while also preserving legacy analytic workflows. The demo covers federated search, network analysis, geospatial analysis, temporal analysis, data modeling, and many other capabilities all performed within a shared, enterprise-wide, collaborative environment.
Understanding the Libyan Revolution
Praescient Analytics developed the following demonstration analyzing the Libyan Revolution. Utilizing open source reporting from the Institute for the Study of War, an analyst at Praescient will guide you through the relational, temporal, and geospatial elements of the civil unrest in Libya, ultimately concluding with an analysis of the strategic landscape in order to make an assessment of the long term stability of the country.
Using i2 Analyst’s Notebook to Map al-Qaeda’s Influence in Syria
In this Praescient demonstration, we showcase how IBM i2 Analyst’s Notebook can be implemented in counterterrorism use cases, specifically mapping al-Qaeda’s influence in Syria. Leaning on real-world Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), our analysts used Analyst’s Notebook capabilities including network, temporal, and geospatial analysis in order to understand the full operational picture in Syria and make predictions on how the situation may progress.
Naval Crisis Response in the Yellow Sea
This demonstration aims to highlight how defense and intelligence analysts can utilize the Semantica platform to quickly provide tactical assessments on North Korean Army and Naval activity to senior level leadership. Using these workflows, naval intelligence analysts are able to enhance their situational awareness and drive intelligence led decision making.

CARES Act Fraud, Waste, and Abuse: Analyzing Loans Under the Paycheck Protection Program
In early 2020, the US government approved the CARES Act, emergency legislation aimed at providing financial assistance to small businesses impacted by the global pandemic. In order to help American businesses as quickly as possible, programs under the CARES Act have been understandably more flexible in terms of approving business-saving loans. Unfortunately, this has left an opening for criminal actors to take advantage of the crisis for their own financial benefit. In response to the challenges facing law enforcement and justice officials, Praescient designed this demonstration to showcase how advanced analytical platforms can be deployed in the fight against CARES Act fraud, waste, and abuse. Using the demonstrated workflows, investigators will be able to find fraud faster, ultimately allowing them to put emergency funding back into the hands of small business owners.
Identifying Money Laundering in Complex Financial Systems
This notional demonstration is based on real-world examples of Praescient’s analysts providing quick and comprehensive analytical services to major international law firms. Using an advanced analytics platform, we showcase how our solution can conduct an internal investigation within a bank to identify fraudulent transactions and instances of money laundering in order to best prepare their legal team for prosecution.
The Manhunt for the Boston Marathon Bombers
Learn about the real-time support provided by Praescient Analytics to the Boston Police Department during the manhunt for the Boston Marathon Bombers. This demonstration simulates the type of support provided by Praescient including all-source analysis to track the investigation and capture of the bombing suspects.
i2 EIA for Law Enforcement
In this demonstration, a Praescient analyst shows how IBM i2 technology can be used to investigate a fictional drug related burglary in Culver City, California. Leveraging the power of i2, the analyst uses search and discovery, link analysis, and geospatial modeling to identify suspects and locations of interest in order to produce leads in this criminal investigation.
Multi-Source Intelligence Fusion
Learn about Praescient’s Advanced Analytics Solution (A2S), a commercial-off-the-shelf solution that’s been integrated and cyber-hardened to enable the warfighter to analyze and exploit intelligence wherever they are deployed. In this scenario, see how A2S can empower analysts to investigate a kidnapping in Colombia and prepare an ad-hoc Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (IPOE) to support a potential hostage rescue mission.

Commercial Applications
Casino Employee Fraud
Using the Semantica analytic platform, Praescient analysts demonstrate how casino officials can integrate disparate internal data sets to identify employees who exploit their privileged access to sensitive information for personal and financial gain. While this scenario is based on real events, all data has been notionalized and does not reflect any actual occurrences of fraud.
Online Retail Fraud
Many online retailers struggle against fraudulent activity, often involving manipulations of their return policies by unscrupulous buyers. By importing massive amounts of customer and sales data from these retailers, Praescient analysts show how such schemes can be uncovered before they cause a disruption within the commercial enterprise.

Healthcare Industry
Tracking Counterfeit Pharmaceuticals
Praescient demonstrates how combining near-real time tracking with proven analysis allows investigators and logistics managers to prevent phony pharmaceuticals from entering the supply chain, putting a stop to supply chain fraud before it has detrimental effects on the healthcare industry.
Life Insurance Fraud
Record numbers of fraudulent life insurance claims are being submitted in the United States, totaling over $1 billion annually according to some estimates. Using Palantir Gotham, Praescient analysts demonstrate how to use administrative processes to identify fraudulent insurance applications in this notional scenario.
Leveraging Advanced Analytics to Investigate and Thwart Healthcare Fraud
According to the FBI, health insurance fraud costs the US an estimated $80 billion a year. In response to the concerns of the medical and insurance industries, as well as the legal community, Praescient developed a demonstration showcasing how our platforms can be used to investigate fraudulent activity in the healthcare system, identifying and thwarting health insurance fraud before it’s successful.

Cybersecurity
Analyzing the Honeynet Map
Watch as our analyst demonstrates how they can use massive amounts of imported network data from the Honeynet Project to detect and react to cyber threats. This workflow shows how Praescient is poised to interrupt any potential cyber problems that could threaten the integrity of vital network infrastructure. To learn more about the Honeynet Project, visit their website at honeynet.org/about.
Fighting back against Advanced Persistent Threats
In this demonstration, a Praescient analyst demonstrates how the fight against cyber-attacks is a contest of wills among human actors — not just technology alone. Watch as an advanced toolkit is used to detect malicious activity within a complex network.
Information Assurance Assessment
The cost of global cyber crime is greater than $114 billion annually, costing US companies $96 billion in 2011. This demonstration showcases how Praescient’s technology solution can produce an information assurance and vulnerability assessment of a company’s network and physical security protocols. The workflows in this walkthrough range from open source reconnaissance to network penetration testing.

Project Management
Examining FEMA’s Acquisition Lifecycle
In this demonstration, Praescient analysts highlight how our solution can be implemented in a project management setting to track out of date contracts associated with the FEMA recovery efforts after Hurricane Katrina. By combining a large number of datasets, our analysts were able to identify where money is being sunk into non-existent projects and suggest solutions to optimize FEMA contract funding and resource allocation.
Prison Management Support
The US prison system includes more than 200 federal facilities that house over 177,000 inmates. Corrections officers and prison staff are tasked with ensuring inmates safety and mitigating any threats that may arise within the facilities. This demonstration shows how analytic software can take prison management to the next level, empowering all levels of prison staff to track activity within facility walls to ensure the population’s safety and to take a proactive approach to potential threats.
