Here at Praescient Analytics, we see the value in investing in the next generation of intelligence analysts, contract specialists, and executives. Praescient’s internship program was designed to give students and recent graduates an opportunity to understand the world of contracting and what it’s like applying data analytics to a wide variety of mission support areas. Through our work with the federal, state and local governments, intelligence agencies, and commercial clients, Praescient’s interns walk away with exposure to a number of different industries, technologies and perspectives.
In honor of the Spring 2020 intern recruitment season, we spoke with past and current interns about what it’s like navigating the sometimes crazy times here at Praescient Analytics. Read more about each of our four intern teams below.
Intelligence Cell
As a member of our esteemed intelligence cell, Denbigh has honed his open source analysis skills through the production of deliverables such as an Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB) and by conducting weekly Publicly Available Information (PAI) Analysis. He says, “The most valuable skill I have learned at Praescient is how to incorporate a variety of analytical tools into workflows to efficiently investigate Open Source Intelligence data sources. Learning how to construct these workflows has allowed me to deliver high quality intelligence products to executive leadership.” This fall, Denbigh is serving as the Intelligence Cell Team Lead where he has gained valuable insight into managing and organizing a team. We are lucky to have dedicated analysts like Denbigh on Team Praescient!
Special Projects and Business Development Team
The Special Projects and Business Development Team is tasked with finding exciting business opportunities for Praescient and supporting our proposal writers. Over the course of her summer internship, our Business Development Intern Lauren became proficient in opportunity searching on government contracting platforms GovWin and CJIS. Reflecting on her time at Praescient, Lauren said, “As a Business Development intern, I’ve learned many valuable skill sets that aid the process of contract procurement, as well as a general understanding of the defense industry and the intelligence community. I particularly enjoyed helping write responses to RFIs and RFPs that pitched solutions for government requirements!” Lauren has been an incredible asset and we are proud to have her on our team.
Executive Support Team
The Executive Support Team plays a huge role in keeping the office functioning efficiently day to day. Working directly with Praescient’s CEO, COO, and Senior Office Controller, our Executive Support Interns get an inside look at what it’s like to run a successful business. The Executive Support Interns sit in on important meetings, research competitors, nominate the company for awards, and more. This summer, Kris found his ability to learn on the fly and his ability to adapt to new situations to be the most useful skills that prepared him for Praescient. He says that interning at Praescient made him more confident in professional settings and he now feels ready to enter the workforce.
Social Media Team
Mary spent this summer overhauling Praescient’s social media pages and developing a comprehensive marketing strategy to reach potential clients and partners. Although she had extensive social media management experience, Mary was first introduced to federal contracting and the defense and intelligence communities at Praescient. She says, “Praescient has been an engaging and challenging learning experience that exposed me to an industry that I have come to be passionate about.” We are grateful for Mary’s expert graphic design skills and all of the hard work she put into making our social media pages top notch. To further this effort, we are also looking to include a public relations intern to help develop Praescient’s marketing campaign, working directly with the Social Media team.
Here’s the takeaway: if you are looking for a unique, educational, and challenging experience, Praescient is the place for you. We are in search of innovative and motivated interns to join our team!
