Last week, Praescient Analytics welcomed 12 new interns to the Praescient Team. This group brings many skills to the table and are motivated to make the most of their time with Praescient. Talking about our new interns, CEO Katie Crotty said, “I’m very excited and proud to work with the new interns. They are whip-smart and have already impressed me just Week One of what I know will be an exciting summer together!”

Meet Michael Burnet
Michael is a graduate student in Georgetown’s security studies program. Previously, he served in the U.S. Army for 7 years as an intelligence officer. In his free time, Michael enjoys fitness and working out. When the gyms were open, he did Olympic weightlifting and belonged to the Black and Red Barbell Club in Tysons, Virginia. Michael also enjoys yoga, walks, and cooking (his favorite thing to cook is chili!) This summer, he will be working on the intel cell team as a research analyst and will be able to get his hands on the different technologies and software platforms. Ultimately, he will be learning how to translate expertise on the platform into an intelligence advantage with a customer. Michael was first intrigued by the focus on innovation and technology that Praescient offers and is most excited to see the capabilities that are out there. As for the future, Michael is unsure exactly where he wants to end up, but he would like to be somewhere in the intelligence community, potentially working for the NGA or FBI.

Meet Riley Coder
Riley is a senior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, planning to graduate in December. He is a global security and intelligence studies major and enjoys any sort of outdoor activity, especially hiking. His favorite place to hike is the Grand Canyon. Riley is also the editor in chief of Eagle Eye Intelligence, an intelligence publication run by students at his university. This summer, Riley will be working as a research analyst and completing a research project on Afghanistan. Originally drawn to Praescient because he felt he would have the freedom to learn and get hands-on experience, Riley is most excited to expose himself to new learning opportunities and make new connections this summer. After graduation, Riley is hoping to spend some time abroad to learn Swahili in Tanzania, then ultimately end up somewhere in the intel community.
Meet Devin Finlay
Devin is in her second year at Blueridge Community College majoring in health sciences on the path of dietetics and nutrition. After this year, she plans to transfer to a 4-year university. When she’s not working, Devin enjoys fitness and working out. She grew up very sports-oriented and recently developed a love for fitness, working out, and being outside. She is also a people person and loves being around genuine people and having good conversations. This summer, Devin will be working on the business development team to find opportunity searches for new contracts, developing her writing skills, and working with government agencies to complete contracts. She is most excited to gain experience in a real workforce setting. She is also looking forward to receiving guidance and being able to continue learning about the industry. As for her future plans, Devin is unsure what workforce she wants to dive into. To follow her passion for fitness, Devin is hoping to get certified with personal training and start to invest in that field. She is hoping that the experience she gains with Praescient will carry on into data development within the dietetics field.
Meet Katherine
Katherine is a rising sophomore at George Mason University studying towards a B.S. in Criminology, Law and Society. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and going to concerts. This summer, Katherine will be a part of the intelligence cell team and working to complete a research project. She is most excited to learn how to use the different analytic tools and to work for a women-owned company. As for the future, Katherine is unsure about what she wants to do yet. But, she is hoping this internship will give her a better understanding of the field and work she enjoys doing.
Meet Charles Harness
Charles is a rising senior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He’s studying global security and intelligence studies with a minor in international relations. In his free time, Charles likes to hike and play video games with his friends. He says his favorite place to hike is the San Francisco Peaks which, despite the name, is in Arizona! This summer, Charles will be working with the intelligence cell as a research analyst and studying the civil war in Yemen. He says that he is most excited to get some real-world experience working on an actual project and having access to resources that you can’t find in the classroom. In the future, Charles hopes to find a job that he really enjoys. One that is fun and interesting and where he feels like he is making a difference.

Meet Torry Liebrand
Torry is a rising senior at Virginia Tech studying accounting. When he’s not working, Torry enjoys spending time with his friends and has recently started taking online guitar lessons. This summer, Torry will be working in the HR department where he will be assisting with recruiting and helping out wherever he is needed. Torry is excited to learn about all the different areas that Praescient works with and to have the ability to gain experience with all of the departments. Torry was drawn to Praescient by the people. After his interview, he knew that our company had a great workplace culture and that working here would be professionally rewarding. In the future, Torry’s ideal job would be to work for Boeing in the accounting or financial department, or anywhere in the government.
Meet Alex Lowman
Alex will be working as a research analyst this summer and is getting ready to enter his senior year at Virginia Tech. He is currently studying natural security and foreign affairs with a minor in Italian. When he’s not working, Alex enjoys playing sports, including soccer and golf, and hanging out with his friends. He also dedicates his time working with the Virginia Tech football team organizing equipment, setting up drills, and working with a position coach. This summer, Alex will be working on the intel cell team and using analytics software technology to complete a research assignment on Yemen. He is most excited to learn about all the new software and how to gather intelligence. In the future, Alex plans to go to graduate school to continue his national security studies or find a position within the security or intelligence industry. His dream job is to conduct intel analysis with the CIA.

Meet Kamila Magiera
Kamila is a rising sophomore at George Washington University where she is studying finance and international affairs. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, traveling, going to the beach, playing the piano, and learning about history. This summer, Kamila will be working on the business development team, where her main responsibilities will include searching for new opportunities and contract work for Praescient and helping with clients. Kamila is most excited about dealing with the national security space as someone who had previously only read and heard about it. She was drawn to Praescient because she thought it was the perfect opportunity to combine her interests of business and government, and to see how these industries work both independently and together. In the future, Kamila would love to do something in the international business field, working with different countries, and seeing how business and government works internationally.

Meet Nicholas Pacheco
Nicholas is a rising senior at American University working towards his international studies major with a focus on national security and foreign policy. In his free time, Nicholas enjoys reading, specifically, nonfiction works such as international affairs theory and security studies, fitness, hiking. He is also involved with the U.S. Army. This summer, Nicholas will be working with the intel cell on the Afghanistan research project. He is most excited to learn about the various analytics tools and software during his time with Praescient that he can later apply to a career in the military and government. In the future, his dream job is to be an analyst working within the intelligence community or foreign service with the state department.

Meet Abigail Piper
Abby is a rising sophomore at James Madison University double majoring in business marketing and computer information systems. When she’s not working, Abby enjoys taking care of her many pets (10 cats, 2 dogs, and a bird!), watching movies with her friends, painting, drawing, and playing soccer. This summer, she will be part of the social media and public relations team and working to create content, manage social media accounts, and build and implement a successful social media campaign. Abby is most excited to learn more about the industry, gain more experience, and see the end product of all the things we are working to create. As for the future, Abby isn’t exactly sure what she wants to do, but she knows she wants to do something that will allow her to express her creativity as well as her love of technology.

Meet Sydney White
Sydney is a rising junior at Towson University, where she is a marketing major and a literature minor. In her free time, Sydney enjoys traveling, going to the beach, and working out. She is also a member of the honors college at Towson. This summer, Sydney will be an HR intern assisting with recruiting, crosswalking of resumes, and finding candidates. She is most excited to learn about the ins and outs of the business world and the intelligence community and to gain an upper hand in understanding the recruitment process. In the future, Sydney’s dream job would be to do marketing for an eco-friendly or nonprofit organization with the ability to travel.

Meet Kayla Famolari
And finally, me! My name is Kayla and I am a rising senior at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am studying advertising and public relations in the Hussman School of Media and Journalism with a double major in French. At UNC, I play on the Women’s Club Volleyball team, where I serve as the treasurer, and am a Study Abroad Ambassador. In my free time, I love playing volleyball, watching French movies, and traveling. This summer, I will be working on the social media and public relations team to create content, write blog posts, manage the social media accounts, and implement a social media strategy. I’m really excited to put all of the skills I’ve learned in the classroom into practice and to get some real-world experience. In the future, my dream job is to work in public relations within the fashion or entertainment industry. I would love to work for a company where I can travel and use my French-speaking skills!
